Remembering a "walk" with Dad7/22/2026 I saw my first deer on my walk tonight on my new trail. It reminded me of the time I took my Dad on my walk in Lansing. Everyday I had a 3 mile loop I would do. I'd send pictures to my Dad of the deer I'd see. He said "Man, you must have a great zoom lens on your camera phone" I said nope, they are really that close. He said no way. I said I'll push you in the wheelchair for the 3 miles. It's all paved. So I did. When we got fairly close to some he said Max, stop I want to see them. I said I can get a lot closer! LOL He said you're kidding me. He was amazed. Now, we were so close that I actually had to start making plans on what I would do if it charged us. LOL I would turn him around in the wheelchair and take one for the team! LOL Luckily, it just crossed the path in front of us. Anyways, I was glad I was able to take Dad on my hike with me. He loved nature and traveling. I always felt bad he had to stop going places but I would try and FaceTime him when I was at a place I knew he'd enjoy if I had service so he could feel he was kind of there.
