January 271/28/2022 Karolyn Kafer - Another friend I met through the McDonalds Band. I've been fortunate to stay in contact over all these years and blessed to call her friend!
January 261/28/2022 Mark Zainea - One of my dearest friends from HS. Been such a blessing to me all these years.
Rob Hartman - Also a dear friend that goes back to HS despite that he didn't go to my HS. He came to play in our jazz combo. I have played so many gigs with Rob and I admire so many things about him. Honored to call him friend. Utah Hamrick - We met at CMU and is a good friend and so happy to see him flourishing as a musician in TX! Dick Nash - One of the great trombone players of the world. Had the pleasure of spending a little time with him at Marcus Printup's Wedding! January 24 Part B1/28/2022 Marcus Printup - I think I've taken more pictures of and with my Brother than anyone else on the planet! All that means is we have done a lot of life together. Good times and bad! Was in his wedding and at his Mom's funeral. He has played on both of my CD's and have seen him play 100s of times I bet. Despite being incredible friends, I never loose sight that he is one of the great trumpet players of our time! Truly an honor to call him my Brother and there is only one Soulhorn! Iron sharpening iron! - WC
January 11 Pt. 21/28/2022 Jen Shangraw - I work with Jen at MSU and it would be impossible to do my job without her. I work with some of the most amazing co-workers! Blessed to call her friend!
Neal Caine - Great bassist who I met through Wess Anderson. I was so blessed to record one of Neal's tunes with him playing on my CD. January 231/28/2022 Andre Hayward - Amazing trombonist. Honored to call him friend!
Alphonso Horne - Great trumpeter and friend. So happy I was able to spend some time with him while he was at MSU teaching! Michael Bogart - Honored to play with him and meet him at Blue Lake. Former trumpeter with Tower of Power January 24 A1/28/2022 Therese Kerbey- Therese has been a friend for a very long time now. Living in Phoenix. A very talented woodwind specialist and teacher!
Jimmy Forrest - Very close to being my all time favorite saxophonist. I wish I had a picture with him. Heard him twice. He played at Northview and I sat mesmerized with my portable cassette player and I can still sing every note he played. Residing in Grand Rapids made him a hometown hero to me. I don't know if there is a more soulful saxophonist! January 221/28/2022 J. J. Johnson - Most consider one of the greatest trombonists in Jazz. Had the honor to hear him twice!
Paul Lesinski - West MI has so much talent and I have been so blessed to be able to share the stage with so many. I have played many a gig with Paul in all kinds of settings. Paul can play with the symphony, jazz, pop, funk, you name it. Very talented individual! January 20 B1/28/2022 Jimmy Cobb - Mr. Cobb was played on some of the most important recordings in jazz which says a lot about what kind of drummer he was. Despite being one of the most iconic drummers, he was one of the nicest and down to earth people. I got to tour with him with MSU for a week which was such a blessing. Then the ultimate honor was Mr. Cobb recorded one tune with me for my CD. I know it was not based on my musicianship because he never heard me play, but we had such a good time on our tour that I believe he agreed to do it. I got to pick him up and drive him to the session. A moment I will never forget!
